Perdicium pays hommage to the Grey Partridge (Perdix Perdix). Perdix was a nephew and student of Daedalus in Greek mythology. He was ingenious, inventing the saw and the compass. Daedalus, who could not bear the thought of a rival, lured Perdix to the top of a high tower and pushed him off. Athena, favouring ingenuity, saw this and turned Perdix into a bird. Perdicium draws its values from this tale, favouring ingenuity above all else.
